Using ER diagrams during development can be crucial to understand the database design<br />

and increase your productivity.<br />

You can better visualize your existing database structure by generating an ER diagram.<br />

To create logical models using UML or to create physical models that can be deployed,<br />

you need to use a data modeling product, like InfoSphere <strong>Data</strong> Architect. Refer to the<br />

2.7 Working <strong>with</strong> existing tables<br />

<strong>Data</strong> <strong>Studio</strong> also has tools that assist in maintenance of the existing data, which is stored in<br />

tables. In this section we will show how to edit the data contained in a table and look at the<br />

DDL to recreate the table. The Run Statistics task will be covered in more detail in Chapter<br />

3. Figure 2.31 shows the actions that you can run on database tables from the object list<br />

editor.
