2.2 Working <strong>with</strong> your <strong>DB2</strong> databases<br />

In this section you will learn how to create a new database, or work <strong>with</strong> an existing<br />

database. You will also learn how to connect to a database, create connection profiles, and<br />

explore database objects.<br />

2.2.1 Creating a new database<br />

To create a new database in the Administration Explorer:<br />

1. In the Administration Explorer, click on the down arrow next to the New drop-down<br />

arrow to expand the options. Select New <strong>Data</strong>base as shown in Figure 2.3.<br />

2. In the New <strong>Data</strong>base window, complete the required fields <strong>for</strong> the instance where the<br />

database will reside. The instance detail fields are explained in Table 2.1 and<br />

illustrated in Figure 2.4.
