Koen Lenaerts<br />
President of the Court of<br />
Justice of the European Union<br />
Koen Lenaerts is the President<br />
of the Court of Justice of the<br />
European Union. From <strong>19</strong>89 to<br />
2003, he has been a Judge of<br />
the European Court of the First<br />
Instance. Since 2003, he has<br />
been a Judge of the European Court of Justice and<br />
became its Vice-President in 2012 and its President in<br />
2015. Koen Lenaerts is a Professor of European Law at<br />
the <strong>University</strong> of Leuven and the Founder and Director<br />
of the university’s Institute of European Law. He is also<br />
an Honorary Master of the Bench of the Inner Temple<br />
in London.<br />

Guido Raimondi<br />
President of the European<br />
Court of Human Rights<br />
Guido Raimondi is the President<br />
of the European Court of Human<br />
Rights (ECHR) since 2015.<br />
He was a Vice-President of the<br />
ECHR from 2012 until 2015 and<br />
has served as a Judge on the<br />
ECHR since 2010. One of the main focuses of his professional<br />
life both on the bench and beyond has been<br />
rights issues. He has been a member of the judiciary<br />
since <strong>19</strong>77. From <strong>19</strong>89 to <strong>19</strong>97, he was a Co-Agent of<br />
the Italian Government before the European Court of<br />
Human Rights. While serving on the Italian Court of Cassation,<br />
he has occasionally been an ad hoc Judge in<br />
cases before the ECHR. Guido Raimondi was Deputy<br />
Legal Adviser and Legal Adviser of the International<br />
Labour Organization ( ILO) between 2003 and 2010.<br />
Gráinne de Búrca<br />
New York <strong>University</strong><br />
Gráinne de Búrca is the Co-<br />
President of the International<br />
Society of Public Law ( <strong>ICON</strong> S )<br />
and Florence Ellinwood Allen<br />
Professor of Law at New York<br />
<strong>University</strong> School of Law. She<br />
is the Co-Director of the Jean<br />
Monnet Center for International and Regional Economic<br />
Law and Justice and the Faculty Director of the<br />
Hauser Global Law School at NYU Law. From <strong>19</strong>98<br />
to 2006, she was the Co-Director of the Academy of<br />
European Law at the European <strong>University</strong> Institute in<br />
Florence. Gráinne de Búrca is the Co-Author of the<br />
leading OUP textbook on EU Law and the Co-Editorin-Chief<br />
of the International Journal of Constitutional<br />
Law ( I CON ). Her main field of research is European<br />
Union law, and she is also interested in questions of<br />
European constitutional law and governance, human<br />
rights and discrimination and international relations.
