Protection against nuisance tripping

The relay ensures the monitoring of earth leakage currents
It trips in the event of a break in the relay/core link
Positive reset is required after a fault is detected
It can have either fixed (30mA & 300mA) or adjustable sensitivities (30/100/300mA, 1A, 3A), time delay is
also available for selectivity purposes

Detection torroids which link with relays are available in circular (35mm to 70mm) cross-section

These devices protect electronic equipment against transient voltage surges caused by lightening strikes
or switching of motors, transformers etc.
The device functions by creating a link between mains and earth during surge peaks and the link allows
the current to be channelled safely to the earth
VSDs do not replace the lightening rod but are complimentary
