PROTECTION DEVICES
residual current circuit breakers (RCCBs)
Opens the circuit automatically in the event of an earth leakage
Available in 2 & 4 pole with sensitivities 30, 100 & 300mA
Available in 25, 40, 63 & 100A
Conforms to IEC 1008
Protection against nuisance tripping i.e. All Hager RCCBs are protected against transient voltages
(lightening, inductive, switching etc.)
Auxiliary contact and remote tripping accessory available.
RCBOs
Combines the overload & short-circuit protection of an MCB with the earth leakage protection of an RCCB
Available in current ratings from 6-32A in 2 pole 30mA and 300mA sensitivities
Breaking capacity 4.5kA conforming to IEC 1009
Indicator to show whether tripping is due to overcurrent or earth leakage faults
Protection against nuisance tripping
Special RCBOs with fly lead available for mounting on TPN vertical busbar system
RCCB add-on blocks
Designed to be fitted to the right side of 2 & 4 Pole MCBs
The combined unit provides protection against overload, short-circuit and earth leakage
Current Rating 32 & 63A for use with NB, NC, ND MCBs
Current Rating 100A for use with NM MCBs
Available in 2 & 4 pole with sensitivities 30mA, 100mA & 300mA upto 63A
Available in 2 & 4 pole with sensitivities 30mA & 300mA for 100A
Breaking capacity of combined unit 10kA conforming to IEC 898/IEC 947-2
Protection against nuisance tripping
earth leakage relays
The relay ensures the monitoring of earth leakage currents
It trips in the event of a break in the relay/core link
Positive reset is required after a fault is detected
It can have either fixed (30mA & 300mA) or adjustable sensitivities (30/100/300mA, 1A, 3A), time delay is
also available for selectivity purposes
Visual display of fault by red LED
Protection against nuisance tripping
Detection torroids which link with relays are available in circular (35mm to 70mm) cross-section
voltage surge devices
These devices protect electronic equipment against transient voltage surges caused by lightening strikes
or switching of motors, transformers etc.
The device functions by creating a link between mains and earth during surge peaks and the link allows
the current to be channelled safely to the earth
VSDs do not replace the lightening rod but are complimentary
Replacement cartridge available for SP140D / SP 440D
Type of Protection Cat. Ref No. of poles Imax In Up Uc
Main Protection SP140D 1P 40kA 15kA 1.2KV 275V
Protection against Fine Protection in
transient voltage
surges wave 8/20 sec
addition to main SP208 1P&N 8kA 2kA 1.5KV 275V
SP440D TP&N 40kA 15kA 1.2KV 275V
SP175D 1P 75kA – 4KV 255V
Imax – The max. one shot surge current the VSD can withstand.
In – The nominal value of current that VSD can withstand at least 20 times and still be serviceable
Up – The max. voltage that is measured across the terminals of the VSD when ‘In’ is applied.
Uc – The max. voltage which may be continuously applied to the VSD.
