The two examples above play on the law of symmetry, discovered in Gestalt<br />
psychology, which says that humans have an innate ability to perceive that a whole object<br />
exists when only part of it is visible and to perceive that object’s center of gravity. When<br />
some text or part of a graphic is cut off or an element trails past the visual boundaries of<br />
the page, we are naturally inclined to play with the screen to find the rest. We’re just in the<br />
early phase of crafting the NUI language, and I strongly encourage you to learn all you<br />
can about it in order to become a good contributor to the product’s visual design.
