Creativity Loves Constraints
POINTS TO REMEMBER
» Don’t think of the constraints of the systems or the requirements you have to work
with as limitations; think of them as a foundation for building a creative design.
» Even though technology evolves rapidly, its adoption is always incremental.
Always seek out the current boundaries of technology, but don’t get too far ahead of
user and business goals in introducing it.
» Take the time to learn as much as you can about the capabilities and limits of the
systems you’re designing for. This will greatly enhance your ability to craft optimal
user flows and work in new features and interactions.
» It’s important to understand the differences between the front-and back-end
systems, as well as those between operating systems. Read the interface guidelines
provided and become familiar with the standards of the W3C as well.
» Don’t become overly habituated to one operating system; be sure to stay familiar
with both iOS and Android and with the broader range of devices.
