to deliver a range of sporting outcomes and to support wider social<br />

agenda in areas such as education, health, the economy and the<br />

development of communities over the period 2009-2019.<br />

Active Places Research Report 2009 and 2014 Update<br />

The Active Places Research Report identifies the existing sports facility<br />

provision in Northern Ireland and presents a number of areas for concern<br />

regarding the current condition of these facilities including location,<br />

quantity, quality, condition, specification, accessibility and universal<br />

access.<br />

Sport NI has addressed the adequacy of existing sports facilities and<br />

identifies the need for new provision in Northern Ireland. It has published<br />

the Active Places Research Report ‘Bridging the Gap, 2009’.<br />
