Local Development Plan

The development of masterplans and other strategies within an urban
renewal area is an important part of the process in establishing a clear
framework for the improvement and revitalization of these areas.
Viability
A measure of a centre’s capacity to attract ongoing investment for
maintenance, importance and adaptation to changing needs.
Vitality
A measure of how busy a centre is.
Walkability
The measure of how suitable or appealing an area is to walking. Factors
influencing walkability include the presence or absence of quality
footpaths or other pedestrian rights-of-way, traffic and road conditions,
land use patterns, building accessibility, and safety, amongst others.
Walkability is an important concept in sustainable urban design.
Wellbeing
A good or satisfactory condition of existence; a state influenced by health,
happiness and prosperity. For a larger group of people, it could be
described as the welfare of that group.
Windfall
This is housing provision on undesignated sites in the Development Plan
and as such, cannot be precisely anticipated. It can arise as a result, for
example, of plot sub-division or property conversion and can normally
make a significant contribution to the housing land supply over any Plan
period.
