Ye sattaśaṇḍāṁ paṭhaviṁ vijettā,<br />
Those who conquered the earth, crowded with beings,<br />
rājar i ṣayo yajamānānupar i yagu,<br />
those royal seers who went round sacrificing:<br />
aśśamedhaṁ puruṣamedhaṁ,<br />
the horse sacrifice, the man sacrifice,<br />
sammaprāsaṁ vāyupeyaṁ nirāggaḍaṁ –<br />
the stick-casting, the soma 97 offering, the unobstructed –<br />
mettassa cittassa subhāvitassa,<br />
(compared to) the one who develops his mind with loving-kindness,<br />
kalāṁ pi te nānubhavanti soḍaśiṁ,<br />
they do not partake of even a sixteenth part,<br />
candaprabhāṁ tāragaṇā va sabbe.<br />
just as the whole host of stars (do not partake) of the radiance of the moon.<br />
