Yathā yathā sammasati khandhānām udayavyayaṁ<br />

Just as one with right mindfulness regarding the rise and fall of the components (of mind<br />

and body)<br />

labhate cittassa prāmojjaṁ, amatā hetaṁ vijānato.<br />

gains happiness in mind, this is the deathless state for the one who knows.<br />

Yato yato sammasati khandhānaṁ udayabbayaṁ<br />

For the one with right mindfulness regarding the rise and fall of the components (of mind<br />

and body)<br />

labhatī pītipāmojjaṁ, amataṁ taṁ vijānataṁ.<br />

gains joy and happiness, that is the deathless state for the one who knows.<br />

Nāsti jhānam apraññassa, praññā nāsti ajhāyato,<br />

There is no concentration for one without wisdom, there is no wisdom for one without<br />

concentration,<br />

yamhi jhānañ-ca praññā ca sa ve Nibbāṇasantike.<br />

that one in whom there is concentration and wisdom is indeed close to Nibbāna.<br />

Natthi jhānaṁ apaññassa, paññā natthi ajhāyato,<br />

There is no concentration for one without wisdom, there is no wisdom for one without<br />

concentration,<br />

yamhi jhānañ-ca paññā ca sa ve Nibbānasantike.<br />

that one in whom there is concentration and wisdom is indeed close to Nibbāna.<br />

Tatthāyam ādī bhavati iha praññassa bhikkhuṇo:<br />

This is the very beginning for the wise monastic here:<br />

indriyagottī sāntoṣṭī: prātimokkhe ca saṁvaro.<br />

contentment, guarding the senses, and restraint in the regulations.<br />

Tatrāyam-ādi bhavati idha paññassa bhikkhuno:<br />

This is the very beginning for the wise monastic here:<br />

indriyagutti santuṭṭhī, pātimokkhe ca saṁvaro.<br />

contentment, guarding the senses, and restraint in the regulations.
