Description<br />

The AD-31 swirl <strong>and</strong> wide pattern swirl h<strong>and</strong>-held applicators<br />

produce a helical pattern with minimal thermal distortion on<br />

heat-sensitive substrates. Precise control of pattern density<br />

<strong>and</strong> thickness provides dense or open patterns for achieving<br />

the best adhesion. AD-31 h<strong>and</strong>-held applicators are ideal for<br />

pressure-sensitive hot melt adhesives, operate without heated<br />

air <strong>and</strong> provide adjustment to vary spray pattern width.<br />

Features<br />

• H<strong>and</strong>-held applicators perform well with room-temperature<br />

compressed air.<br />

• A variety of nozzles vary pattern deposition weight <strong>and</strong> width. Widths<br />

range from 6 to 152 mm (0.25 to 6 in.).<br />

• Lower heat density of swirl patterns minimizes thermal distortion on<br />

heat-sensitive substrates.<br />

• Compact, lightweight design weighs 0.8 kilogram (1.75 lb) for<br />

h<strong>and</strong>ling ease.<br />

• Distinctive ever-cool h<strong>and</strong>le provides comfortable operation <strong>and</strong> helps<br />

reduce risk of burns by containing heated components <strong>and</strong> adhesiveflow<br />

paths within the h<strong>and</strong> applicator body, not the h<strong>and</strong>le.<br />

• Impact-resistant molded shell extends service life.<br />

• A 360° swivel connector eliminates hose twisting.<br />

• H<strong>and</strong>-held applicators employ either a preset thermostatic<br />

temperature sensor or a RTD (resistance temperature detector) sensor.<br />

RTD sensing provides temperature control precision by reducing<br />

temperature fluctuations that negatively affect flow <strong>and</strong> cause char<br />

formation.<br />

• AD-31 wide pattern swirl h<strong>and</strong>-held applicators have large internal<br />

air passages that provide higher air flow rate at lower atomizing<br />

pressures. Select h<strong>and</strong>-held applicators have higher wattage heaters<br />

to compensate for the cooling tendency caused by higher air <strong>and</strong><br />

adhesive flow rates.<br />

• Wide pattern swirl nozzles provide high adhesive.<br />

• H<strong>and</strong>-held applicators accommodate broad range of Nordson melters.<br />
