暴 虐 的 火 山 顯 然 從 未 戰 勝 過 廣 闊 的 大 海 , 在 拉 奈 島
的 南 部 海 岸 , 五 彩 繽 紛 、 絢 麗 多 姿 的 海 洋 生 物 在 這 裏 平
靜 地 繁 衍 生 息 著 。 我 們 一 行 人 , 是 島 上 名 為 鯊 魚 鰭 角 的 一
處 海 岸 的 唯 一 訪 客 。 通 過 一 個 簡 易 的 帶 通 氣 管 的 潛 水 鏡
裝 置 , 我 們 仿 佛 在 參 觀 一 處 無 比 巨 大 的 潛 水 館 , 裏 面 有
著 數 量 和 種 類 驚 人 的 魚 類 , 如 罐 頭 一 樣 層 層 疊 疊 著 。
在 這 之 前 , 我 還 曾 經 去 過 加 拉 帕 戈 斯 群 島 弗 洛 里 亞
納 島 附 近 的 海 域 , 那 裏 有 一 處 著 名 的 潛 水 勝 地 , 名 為 「 魔
鬼 王 冠 」, 鯊 魚 鰭 角 感 覺 像 是 那 裏 的 迷 你 版 。 兩 者 都 是
一 片 海 底 溝 壑 , 那 些 聳 立 的 礁 石 , 有 些 如 山 脈 般 穿 出 了 海
面 。 我 還 記 得 在 「 魔 鬼 王 冠 」 中 , 我 遇 上 過 一 群 海 獅 在 我
身 邊 穿 梭 , 讓 我 迷 失 了 方 向 , 驚 出 一 身 冷 汗 。 這 裏 的 海 水
非 常 平 靜 , 讓 我 逐 漸 甩 掉 了 上 次 潛 游 留 下 的 心 理 陰 影 。
在 當 年 火 山 爆 發 時 , 岩 漿 入 海 的 那 一 處 水 域 , 我 看 到
了 躍 動 的 海 豚 、 一 隊 緩 緩 划 水 的 綠 毛 龜 , 長 相 奇 特 的 雙
髻 鯊 和 海 鰻 , 還 有 摩 爾 人 的 石 雕 像 。 這 些 雕 像 是 我 在 劃
著 皮 艇 沿 海 岸 漂 流 時 發 現 的 , 它 們 雕 刻 在 依 然 保 留 了 噴
湧 時 形 態 的 火 山 岩 上 , 看 上 去 古 樸 又 神 秘 。
在 海 豚 的 陪 伴 下 , 我 回 到 了 UnCruise 遊 輪 上 , 正 以 為
會 馬 上 啟 程 返 航 , 船 長 卻 說 :「 再 稍 等 一 下 。」 話 音 剛 落 ,
船 上 已 經 有 人 發 出 驚 喜 的 叫 聲 , 就 在 我 們 遊 輪 近 在 咫 尺
的 地 方 , 兩 隻 看 上 去 還 未 完 全 長 大 的 座 頭 鯨 , 優 雅 地 浮
出 了 水 面 , 轉 眼 又 潛 入 水 。 船 上 爆 發 出 一 片 歡 呼 聲 , 這 數
秒 鐘 的 意 外 壓 軸 節 目 , 為 我 們 此 行 畫 上 了 完 滿 的 句 號 。
返 航 途 中 , 夜 幕 降 臨 , 我 裹 上 毯 子 躺 在 甲 板 上 仰 望
繁 星 , 腦 海 中 再 度 回 想 起 了 夏 威 夷 那 原 始 淳 樸 的 美 , 也 許
這 一 次 是 我 目 前 為 止 度 過 的 最 完 美 的 熱 帶 海 濱 假 期 了 。

the sea, we see dolphins, a flotilla of green turtles, a
hammerhead shark, scores of yellow tangs, Moorish
idols, and moray eels.
Kayaking up the coast, I pass sea stacks — brilliant
carvings in the lava rocks where waves have created what
look like jets of steam. On a Zodiac inflatable boat ride,
spinning dolphins accompany us. Before we head back
to the UnCruise vessel, the Zodiac pilot says, “Let’s
just wait a bit.” Lo and behold, within 10 minutes, two
juvenile humpback whales flash their flukes before
gracefully diving into the water just a short distance
from our craft.
On our last evening docked off the Big Island, we
drape ourselves in blankets and lie on the upper deck
to watch an unannounced shooting-star display. As
the heavens bares its soul to us, we are again reminded
of the raw beauty of Hawaii. We’re relatively close to
the Big Island’s active volcano, but all is quiet on this
western front.
