Wirtschaftsraum geschaffen.
Gibt es Ähnlichkeiten oder große Unterschiede zwischen
der russischen und der österreichischen Backkultur?
In Russland hat Brot einen fast noch höheren
Stellenwert als in Österreich und ist stärker in Traditionen
verankert. Bei jeder Mahlzeit ist Brot mit dabei.
Und auch bei offiziellen Ereignissen dürfen Brot
und Salz zur Begrüßung nicht fehlen. Außerdem
bevorzugen Russen malzig-süßere Brote.
Haben Sie als Honorarkonsul auch schon hilfreich
eingreifen können in manchen Konsulats-Angelegenheiten?
Ich durfte als Honorarkonsul bereits eine Angelegenheit
im Bereich Staatsbürgerschaft begleiten sowie
ein Projekt im Kulturbereich unterstützen. Die
Türen des Konsulats stehen nun seit 10. April offen
und ich freue mich auf meine weiteren neuen Aufgaben.
Es ist für mich eine große Ehre, in dieser Funktion
für das größte Land der Welt tätig sein zu dürfen,
und ich bedanke mich bei der Russischen
Föderation für das Vertrauen. Mein Anliegen ist es,
die guten Beziehungen zu Russland noch weiter zu
festigen.
Sprechen oder lernen Sie Russisch und können Sie die
Nationalhymne schon mitsingen oder mitsummen?
Ich besitze Grundkenntnisse und kann mich auf
meinen Reisen ganz gut verständigen. Und bei jedem
Russland-Aufenthalt lerne ich dazu. Durch
meine Aufgaben als Honorarkonsul erlange ich nun
sicher ebenfalls die ein oder anderen neuen Kenntnisse.
Und die russische Nationalhymne ist mir mittlerweile
so gut bekannt, dass ich sie mitsummen
kann.
CD: This February, you have been appointed as Honorary
Consul of the Russian Federation to Upper Austria. What
connects you personally to the country?
There is a long history that ties me to Russia. The
first points of contact began with the subsidiary in
Moscow, many of which have become more intensive
over the years and are now friendships. I always look
forward to the tremendous hospitality that the people
in the world’s biggest country extend towards me. Besides
that, I am also fascinated by Russian culture, as
well as the many architectural highlights that Russia
has to offer.
In October 2017, backaldrin opened a production facility near
Moscow. What led to this?
backaldrin has already been successfully active in
the Russian market since 1995. In 2007, we opened the
“House of Bread” – or “Dom Chleba” in the local language
– a training centre as well as our administrative
centre in Russia. 10 years later, the next milestone followed
with the foundation of ARVALUS. This positioned
us even closer to the customer, allowing us to
fulfil needs and requirements even better and giving
us a central hub in the Eurasian economic space.
Are there any similarities or big differences between Russian
and Austrian baking culture?
In Russia, a loaf of bread may play an even bigger
role than it does in Austria and is anchored more
deeply in tradition. Bread accompanies almost every
meal. And bread and salt have to be part of official
events, too. Besides that, Russians also happen to prefer
malty and sweeter bread varieties.
Have you – as Honorary Consul – already been able to make
any significant contributions to consulate matters?
As Honorary Consul, I already accompanied a
matter related to citizenship and also supported a cultural
project. The doors of the consulate have been
open since 10 th April and I am already looking forward
to my next assignments. It is a great honour for
me to be active in this function for the world’s largest
country and I am very grateful to the Russian Federation
for the trust they bestow upon me. My ambition
is to strengthen our good relations with Russia even
further.
Do you speak or are you learning to speak Russian? Can you
already sing or hum the national anthem?
I have basic knowledge of Russian and am able to
communicate during my travels. With every trip to
Russia, I learn more. I also learn this or that due to my
work as Honorary Consul. And by now I’m so familiar
with the Russian national anthem that I can, indeed,
hum along with it.
