came to the American continents, the correct anwser is unknown. How can someone
discover something if other people are already here? Actually, there is
evidence that people from nothern Europe were here 400 years before Columbus so
sorry Massimo, Columbus may not even be the first European to come
here.This is not to make Columbus as an unimportant figure in history
because mass immigration of European people and culture came here and they
changed everything here. Our very existance as a society owes everything to
Columbus' voyages.The second the question is while the Italian
culture is a rich and valued culture and is much older than the United States,
Italy itself as a united country has only existed since 1870, so the United
States is older than Italy. The area known as Italy today was a collection of
seperate kingdoms who shared a common language but they were not under one
government until that year. |

that my ancestry is both Western European and Native American, I don't take
insult to you referring to my Indian ancestors as ragmuffins and bums with bare
asses and although I am sure they probably dressed that way, they had cultures
that were every bit as valuable as other cultures and in some cases, quite
advanced. In fact, I am studying our native dialect, a indeginous Southern
California language that pre-dates english and spanish by thousands of years.
It is being taught by a professional linguistic expert, a non Indian, who is an
expert in almost extinct local languages. Our native language is almost not
spoken as the people have been assimilated into the english mainstream but it is
worth reviving because even though it was never a written language before, the
teacher of the class said it is just as complicated grammatically as Latin and
even more complicated than english. It is also quite beautiful to hear too. It
is worth saving.I am sorry Massimo, but one of my Native American
ancestors discovered the Americas, we don't know who this person is, but he (or
maybe she) was a human being just like anyone else.If you ever take the
time to study some of the native American cultures, they make for fancinating
reading and the cultures were every bit as revlevant as other culutures despite
their primitive appearence.I have to say one more thing about the term
bum, the Native Americans took care of themselves long before the Europeans came
here. It was only after they were conquered and their societies were destroyed
that they became helpless in the strange new white socieity.|

I have studied Latin and Greek in High School... Latin is a very beautiful and
musical language ! It needs a lot of intuition for correctly traslating a Latin
