aspera ´Macrophylla´ - Rough Leaved Hydrangea
____ About 2 m tall shrub, with few branches, shoots are thick and
clad with hairs; leaves narrow and egg-shaped, 5 to 35 cm long;
flowers in 10 to 30 cm wide, flat-topped corymbs, the sterile ray
flowers at the edge of inflorescence are white to pink, fertile flowers
purple-blue, appearing in June/August - an unconventional
flowering shrub. S. Zone 6b.
macrophylla ´Bouquet Rose´ (= ´Bouquet Blue´) -
____ 1 to 2 m tall shrub; the inflorescence is corymb, pink (blue in
acidic soils), free-flowering even on shoots near ground - one of
the hardiest hydrangeas. S. zone 6b.

macrophylla ´Générale Vicomtesse de Vibraye´ - Lace Cap Hydrangea NEW!
____ One of the hardiest and most free-flowering cultivars, growing
tightly upright, 1.2 to 1.5 m tall. Leaves light green, turning partly
dark mahogany in autumn. Inflorescence large (up to 25 cm!),
semi to full spherical, appearing bright light blue when grown
on acidic soil. An excellent cultivar (a hybrid made by von
MOULIERE in 1909) that should have been made available in
a number of varieties or to many gardens much earlier (as Professor
Warda rightfully lamented). A blue chip with regards to

____ A sturdy-growing, up to 1.5 m tall cultivar; large dark pink flowers
with sterile ray flowers at the edge of the inflorescence - an early
flowering cultivar, relative tolerant to low temperature. K, S, St.
Zone 6b.

____ About 1 m tall shrub with narrow, regular-tapered leaves; the inflorescence
is a corymb, fertile flowers in the middle, surrounded
with a double ring of sterile flowers rosy red to light blue, either
entire or slightly toothed, ray flowers also often to be found in the
middle of inflorescence - a lovely cultivar that prefers a slightly
sheltered position. S. Zone 6b.
