The geographic scope of this plan is Erie County, New York. The<br />
description and analysis of Erie County’s food system herein employs<br />
various qualit<strong>at</strong>ive, quantit<strong>at</strong>ive, and sp<strong>at</strong>ial methods. Appendix A details<br />
every method used for each section, including the sources from which<br />
various d<strong>at</strong>a were used.<br />
The report is comprised of four major sections, each of which<br />
include several chapters. Section I outlines the present characteristics of Erie<br />
County food consumers, farmers and producers, businesses particip<strong>at</strong>ing<br />
in processing, wholesale, distribution, marketing and disposal of food.<br />
Additionally, the report details the legal framework in which the food<br />

system. First, an analysis determining Erie County’s selfreliance to grow<br />
