Se propone entenderla a partir de la complejidad de suconstrucción histórica, que ha creado una comb<strong>in</strong>ación perversaentre la segregación colonial y la asimilación nacional. De lamisma forma, se busca situar la racialización de la desigualdaden relación a otras formas de jerarquización social, sobre todo lade clase y la de género, con las que está estrechamente v<strong>in</strong>culada,pero que son analíticamente diferenciables. The author proposes thatour underst<strong>and</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> the term should stem from accept<strong>in</strong>g itscomplexity as a historical construction that has created a perversecomb<strong>in</strong>ation <strong>of</strong> colonial segregation <strong>and</strong> national assimilation.The article seeks to situate the “racialization” <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>equality <strong>in</strong>relation to other forms <strong>of</strong> social hierarchy, especially those <strong>of</strong> class<strong>and</strong> gender, concepts with which racism is <strong>in</strong>extricably l<strong>in</strong>ked,but analytically different.
