Virtual Learning Environment – Moodle (AVA-Moodle) focused elderly users as a strategy to<br />
make th<strong>em</strong> accessible and easy to use for the elderly, that in most cases, present declines<br />
of cognitive sensory and physical order that elapse from age. Although they are not always<br />
considered deficiencies, these declines may affect their interaction with the information<br />
and communication technologies, including the AVA-Moodle, known by becoming the<br />
learning more active, dynamic and personalized could be a new way for the education<br />
of the elderly people. It was conducted by field research, quantitative-qualitative, based<br />
on analysis of the interface of the Moodle by applying the techniques of contextual<br />
analysis: observation of the user and focus group. Were possible to be delineated from<br />
this research work recommen<strong>da</strong>tions for accessibility and usability. The intention of these<br />
recommen<strong>da</strong>tions is to increase the ease of access and use of the AVA-Moodle for elderly<br />
people with psychological and physiological declines resulting from these normal ages,<br />
and consequently, generates a d<strong>em</strong>and for distance courses mediated by this technology,<br />
allowing an interaction between the elderly and the access the new knowledge.<br />

1. Introdução<br />
A população mundial atual é de 6,1 bilhões de pessoas, com estimativa de chegar<br />
a 9,3 bilhões <strong>em</strong> 2050, sen<strong>do</strong> um aumento de 50% (IBGE, 2008). O número de i<strong>do</strong>sos no<br />
mun<strong>do</strong> hoje, com 60 anos ou mais, é de 600 milhões, poden<strong>do</strong> duplicar até 2025 e atingir<br />
2 bilhões <strong>em</strong> 2050. Na visão de Cuba (2006, p. 18), “essa probabili<strong>da</strong>de alerta para a<br />
necessi<strong>da</strong>de de novas alternativas que possam atender, <strong>em</strong> to<strong>da</strong> a sua plenitude, os direitos<br />
sociais <strong>do</strong>s i<strong>do</strong>sos brasileiros previstos nas políticas sociais, possibilitan<strong>do</strong> condições dignas<br />
a to<strong>da</strong> a população i<strong>do</strong>sa, no t<strong>em</strong>po que ain<strong>da</strong> lhes resta de vi<strong>da</strong> [...]”.<br />
