espaço <strong>de</strong> representação <strong>da</strong> i<strong>de</strong>nti<strong>da</strong><strong>de</strong> cultural teuto-brasileira<br />

RESUMO<br />
As primeiras associações <strong>de</strong>sportivas foram fun<strong>da</strong><strong>da</strong>s em <strong>Porto</strong><br />
Alegre pelos teuto-brasileiros (imigrantes alemães e seus <strong>de</strong>scen<strong>de</strong>ntes)<br />
na segun<strong>da</strong> meta<strong>de</strong> <strong>do</strong> século XIX. Alguns estu<strong>do</strong>s<br />
sugerem que as associações em geral se constituíram enquanto<br />
espaço <strong>de</strong> representação <strong>da</strong> i<strong>de</strong>nti<strong>da</strong><strong>de</strong> cultural teuto-brasileira.<br />
O objetivo <strong>de</strong>ste estu<strong>do</strong> é investigar se as associações <strong>de</strong>sportivas<br />
também se constituíram enquanto espaço <strong>de</strong> representação<br />
<strong>da</strong> i<strong>de</strong>nti<strong>da</strong><strong>de</strong> cultural <strong>do</strong>s teuto-brasileiros. Com base na análise<br />
<strong>de</strong> fontes <strong>do</strong>cumentais impressas e fontes orais, buscou-se<br />
i<strong>de</strong>ntificar as possíveis representações que expressavam esta<br />
i<strong>de</strong>nti<strong>da</strong><strong>de</strong> cultural. Constatou-se que as associações <strong>de</strong>sportivas<br />
se constituíram em espaço <strong>de</strong> representação <strong>da</strong> i<strong>de</strong>nti<strong>da</strong><strong>de</strong><br />
cultural teuto-brasileira, através <strong>da</strong> manutenção <strong>do</strong> idioma alemão<br />
nos <strong>do</strong>cumentos e na comunicação oral, na a<strong>do</strong>ção <strong>de</strong> símbolos<br />
e exaltação <strong>do</strong>s heróis alemães, e <strong>de</strong> incentivos à prática<br />
<strong>de</strong>sportiva em busca <strong>de</strong> disciplina e saú<strong>de</strong> corporal.<br />

ABSTRACT<br />
The sport associations in <strong>Porto</strong> Alegre, Brazil: space for<br />
representation of the German-Brazilian cultural i<strong>de</strong>ntity<br />
The first sport associations in <strong>Porto</strong> Alegre were foun<strong>de</strong>d by the<br />
German-Brazilians in the second half of the XIX century. Previous<br />
studies suggested that sport associations constituted a space of representation<br />
of the German-Brazilian cultural i<strong>de</strong>ntity. The goal of this<br />
study was to investigate if the sport associations were also constituted<br />
as a space for representing the cultural i<strong>de</strong>ntity of German-Brazilians.<br />
Based on the analysis of <strong>do</strong>cumental and oral testimonial sources it was<br />
inten<strong>de</strong>d to i<strong>de</strong>ntify the possible representations that expressed this cultural<br />
i<strong>de</strong>ntity. It was found out that sports associations constitute a<br />
space for representation of the German-Brazilian cultural i<strong>de</strong>ntity,<br />
through the maintenance of German language on <strong>do</strong>cuments and the<br />
oral communication, through the a<strong>do</strong>ption of the symbols and hailing<br />
of German heroes, and through incentives to the practice of sports in<br />
search of discipline and body health.<br />
