<strong>da</strong> <strong>de</strong>finição ao tratamento<br />

RESUMO<br />

No <strong>de</strong>sporto <strong>de</strong> alto nível o <strong>de</strong>senvolvimento <strong>de</strong> um programa<br />

<strong>de</strong> treinamento físico tem como principal objetivo a maximização<br />

<strong>da</strong> performance. Contu<strong>do</strong>, caso não ocorra uma periodização<br />

<strong>do</strong> treinamento a<strong>de</strong>qua<strong>da</strong>, os atletas po<strong>de</strong>m <strong>de</strong>senvolver o<br />

fenômeno <strong>de</strong>nomina<strong>do</strong> overtraining ou sobretreino. O overtraining<br />

po<strong>de</strong> ser <strong>de</strong>fini<strong>do</strong> como um distúrbio neuroendócrino, que<br />

ocorre no eixo hipotálamo-hipófise, resulta<strong>do</strong> <strong>do</strong> <strong>de</strong>sequilíbrio<br />

entre a <strong>de</strong>man<strong>da</strong> <strong>do</strong> exercício e a capaci<strong>da</strong><strong>de</strong> <strong>de</strong> resposta <strong>do</strong><br />

organismo. O objetivo <strong>do</strong> presente estu<strong>do</strong> <strong>de</strong> revisão é apresentar<br />

fatores inerentes ao overtraining, para que a comuni<strong>da</strong><strong>de</strong><br />

científica aprofun<strong>de</strong> o conhecimento sobre este problema <strong>do</strong><br />

treinamento e auxilie os profissionais <strong>do</strong> <strong>de</strong>sporto e atletas a<br />

evitá-lo.<br />

ABSTRACT<br />

Un<strong>de</strong>rstanding overtraining in sports: from <strong>de</strong>finition to treatment<br />

The main aim of a training program in the high level sport is to<br />

enhance performance. Athletes can present overtraining (OT) if an<br />

ina<strong>de</strong>quate training periodisation occurs. Overtraining can be <strong>de</strong>fined<br />

as a neuroen<strong>do</strong>crine disturb in hypothalamic-pituitary axis resulting<br />

from an unbalance between training and recovery. The aim of this<br />

review is to <strong>de</strong>epen the knowledge about overtraining factors, bringing<br />

actual scientific <strong>da</strong>ta to help coaches and athletes to <strong>de</strong>al with this<br />

problem, and overcome it.<br />
