PREFACEThe scientific meetingsooo4 th National Conference on Optics and Spectroscopy1 st Korea-Vietnam Joint Symposium on Quantum Photonics and NanophysicsInternational Workshop on Photonics and Applications (IWPA-2006)were successfully held in Can Tho, Vietnam from August 15 to 19, 2006.There were 258 participants in these meetings including the foreign scientistsfrom Korea, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, and Russia. Thesescientists from widely varying disciplines in physics, materials science, biologyand chemistry came together to share their common interest in optics, photonics,spectroscopy and their applications. In the conferences, total 153 papers werepresented in Plenary Sessions and 04 parallel sessions.The “Advances in Optics, Photonics, Spectroscopy and Applications” havepublished the papers presented in these conferences and, in particular, they wereselected by the editorial committee with a standard referee procedure.
