belirtirken, 10’u bu konuda fikri olmadığını ifade etti.
Elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda çocuk kliniklerinde, aile hekimliğinde, okul sağlığı
alanında çalışan hemşirelere çocuklarda kaplıca terapisi kullanımı hakkında hizmetiçi eğitimlerin
verilmesi ayrıca hemşirelerin lisans müfredatına kaplıca terapisi ve çocuklarda kullanımına
ilişkin seçmeli derslerin eklenmesi ve bu konuda ailelerin ve çocukların bilgilendirilmesi
önerilmektedir.

Abstract
Opinions of Nurses on the Use of Thermal Spas in Children: A Case of Yozgat
This qualitative study was conducted to determine the opinions of pediatric nurses
working in a hospital in Yozgat about the use of thermal therapies in children.
The study was conducted by the focus group interview method among the qualitative
research methodologies. The study was conducted with 15 nurses working in a state hospital.
Data were collected by using a semi-structured questionnaire and introductory information form
developed by the researchers. Nurses were informed about the research and voice recording, and
their verbal consents were obtained. The interviews lasted 30 minutes on average. The data were
analyzed using content analysis method.
It was determined that 6 of the nurses included in the study were in the 23-28 age group,
4 were in the 36-41 age group and four of them were working as nurses for 11-16 years. In the
study, the question "Can you explain your views on the use of thermal spa therapy in children?"
responded with "It's beneficial in my opinion, children must take advantage of clean thermal
spas, they are especially beneficial for the muscle-skeleton system" by 8 nurses; and, 4 of the
nurses responded with "In my opinion, thermal spa therapies are not suitable for children, I think
they are harmful because they are not hygienic." And, the question "To whom you recommend
thermal therapy?" responded by 4 pediatric nurses with the "Osteoarthritis, other rheumatic
diseases, dermatitis and psoriasis" response. And finally, the question "In your opinion, which
diseases are not suitable for thermal spas?" was responded by 9 pediatric nurses with the
response "Children with respiratory problems, heart disease, renal failure, asthma-COPD,
allergic reaction, epilepsy, skin diseases, inflammatory joint diseases, rheumatic disease,
nephritis and children with neurological and neurosurgical problems." Of the nurses included in
the study, 5 nurses stated that the thermal spas in Yozgat are good for urinary tract infections,
