Deep-pile carpets, warm lighting and
spacious, cosy changing rooms situated
throughout the department make the
underwear department at Modehaus
Reischmann in Kempten a place designed
to make you feel comfortable. It was
planned and designed by the renowned,
Stuttgart-based company Blocher Blocher,
while Wanzl was in charge of realisation
as general contractor. And while the
graphic designers were able to transform
the building site into a finished store with
just a few clicks on a mouse (see image
above), the site required logistical feats
from Wanzl every day. This is because the
Reischmann building, in which business
continued as normal on all of the other
floors during the remodelling, is situated
in a pedestrianised zone that cannot be
accessed by heavy-duty trucks, even at
night. A crane lifted the materials “just in
time” over two rows of houses in the old
part of the town into the third floor of the
Reischmann building. ■
