A problem turned into a solution
Für seinen Markt in der nordungarischen
Kleinstadt Aszód wünschte sich Galga
Coop eine Flächenoptimierung und eine
bessere Übersichtlichkeit. Kein leichtes
Unterfangen, denn die Statik des Gebäudes
ist auf eine Unzahl an großvolumigen
Säulen gegründet, die obendrein dort
untergebracht waren, wo sie am meisten
störten: z.B. vor den Theken, im Eingangsbereich
und in der Kassenzone.
Die Budapester Planer machten diesen
Makel zum Stilelement: Die Säulen
wurden verkleidet, im Obst & Gemüse-
Bereich mit einem Holzdekor mit integriertem
Blätterhimmel verbunden. Und vor
allem wurden die Gondeln im 45° Winkel
aufgestellt, um so mehr Verkaufsfläche
und breitere Gänge zu erhalten. Die treppenartige
Verzierung der Säulenkapitelle
und die Erweiterung der Regalierung um
die Säulen herum, machen den 45° Winkel
zum zentralen und harmonischen Gestaltungselement.
Galga Coop wanted to improve
visibility and optimise the use of space at
its market in Aszód, a small town in the
North of Hungary. This was no easy task
as the building’s structure rested on a
plethora of large pillars that had seemingly
been positioned wherever they would
be most inconvenient, for example in
front of counters, in the entrance area
and around the tills.
The planners in Budapest turned this flaw
into a stylistic element. The pillars were
decorated, and in the produce section
they were linked by wood decor with an
integrated leaf canopy. And most importantly,
the gondolas were angled at 45
degrees to create a bigger sales area and
broader aisles. The stepped decoration
of the pillars’ capitals and the addition of
shelves around the pillars make the 45
degree angle a central and harmonious
design element.
