Flat shaded Menu: View Icon: No short cut Displays the model data realistically shaded (flat shading) Within the facet part all facets are displayed filled. To fill a facet its surface normal is used with the result that the facet is filled using a single shade. Within the slice part only the vertical extrusion of the contours is used to display the slice thickness. Smooth shaded Menu: View Icon: No short cut Displays the model data shaded with smoothed transitions (smooth shading) Within the facet part all facets are displayed filled. To fill a facet the normals of the three vertices are used with the result that the transitions between adjacent facets are displayed smoother. Within the slice part only the vertical extrusion of the contours is used to display the slice thickness. To fill a face of the contour extrusion the normals of the vertices are used with the result that the transitions between adjacent facets are displayed smoother.
