Calculate variable thickness Menu: Slices Icon: No short cut Optimizes the slice stack by removing redundant slices and by using variable slice thickness Variable slice thickness(cross section of a part) The build time and the build costs depend on the number of slices that have to be build. If your machine is able to use variable slice thickness within a job, adjacent slices, which are equal to a certain degree within their geometry, are combined to a single slice with a higher thickness. Depending on the part, the number of slices can be reduced without loosing the precision of the result. Slices that are removed by this optimization remain in memory and can be reinserted using the function Resolve slice thickness. However, these slices are not saved when the model is saved. Dialog Calculate slice thickness Comparison accuracy on contour level While comparing two adjacent slices, differences in the geometry below this value are ignored. Allowed thickness values Use predefined thickness range: The range between the minimal and maximal slice thickness is limited by the capabilities of the predefined machine. Deactivate this option to ignore the capabilities of the predefined machine. By clicking the button Define slice thickness you can directly configure the selected machine to define the area of maximum and minimum slice thickness. 261
