According to Ocean City Recreation Director Donald POeggi, who served as commodore for the races, the "winds were excellent" for the catamaran vessels in the ocean racing events. Pileggi, who noted that the "ocean also cooperated" for the day-long series of events, had high praise for the cooperation of Ocean City's auxiliary police force which helped "cat" owners get their craft across Ocean City's busy streets and on to the beach. The races were co-sponsored by the recreation department and Fleet 24 of the National Hobie Cat Association. Spring Flower Show One of this resort's most popular spring events, the Ocean City Flower Show, was held June 9 through 11 at the Music Pier. Over 200 entries turned out in the artistic design and horticultural divisions of the exhibit which washeld for three days for the first time this year. This year's theme was "Dandy Dates for 78" and admission, as usual, was free. A trade fair featuring flower related products was held on the pavilion of the Music Pier Friday and Saturday. The inside of the pier was decorated by commercial growers and florists.
