keep telling you that fish are
being caught off the surf, so
here's proof.
Remember those windy and
rainy days last week? Well,
that didn't stop Tom Duffy. He
was on the second jetty and
using a Hopkins lure he brought
in two bluef ish that Weighed 846
pounds and 8.75 pounds. That
goes to show that there are fish
in the surf.
The JoLeSue with Capt. Lew
Wolf and first mate Jim White
went to the Flanders and did
themselves proud by catching
weakfish and bluefish. They
averaged 4lfr pounds and they
were using top and bottom rigs
and squid.
On the Con-Job with Capt.
Doug McEvoy and first mate
Bruce was 7-year-old Steve
McMurray and his father Bob.
They went to the stonebeds and
little Steve outdid them all by
catching a 10.7$ pound albacore
30-inches long. He was using a
Hopkins lure. That's nice.
Now the Proper was very
proper again tUs past weekend.
Capt. Ken Remington along
with his first mate Craig outdid
themselves. Ken caught two
wahoo that weighed 40-pounds
and 41 pounds and were 57-
inches and 60-inches long. One
of the two dolphin averaged 6
and 7 pounds. He also caught a
big eye tuna that went 50ft-
pounds and a marlln which he
released Craig caught one of
the dolphins and a tuna.
They went to the Wilmington
Canyon at S a.m. in the morning
and got home at 6:20 p.m. Boy
were they tired.
Capt. Donald Mahoney of the
Tantalizer brought in a big eye
tuna that weighed S8Mi pounds
and was SO-incnes long. He went
to the Baltimore Canyon with
first mate Richard and Lydia
Fltzpatrick. He also released a,
white martin.
I guess some people have all
the luck and do their thing by it.
The Santa Clara with Capt.
John Imbesi went on an
overnight trip to the Baltimore
Canyon. Well-slr-ree, they
brought home a wahoo that

Ihe crew consisted of Tom
Adams, Jerry Avarno, Bob
McAllister, George Loder and
Eddie Loder. Using squid,
balleyhoo, eds or any thing you
can think of, they caught two
tuna, two marlln, seven
dolphin, two skip Jack, one
swordfish and then they
released two makos. I'm glad
they released those sharks or
the odor would have driven
them out of the boat. Anyway,
that was a good weekend for
those guys. When they came in
they sure looked like a mottley
crew. They were so tired.
On Monday the Catch 22 with
Capt. Bob McFadyen and first
mate^ete LoPonte with a crew
of Jim Valenti, Ted Teleferro,
Dan Kashey, George Taylor,
Dave Potoke, and Dennis
Huntley went to the stonebeds.
They came home with 27
blueflsh that averaged from 24
pounds and two Albacore.
That was a nice day for I
all. Now I'm telling you that f
the fish are out there and this is I
the best timeof the year. So, get
out there and catch the fish
(they're.waiting for you). Have
a good week, good fishing and
tight fines.
