or)3 or 4 pairs; lobules linear, 3–4 × 0.5–0.8 mm. Middle stem<br />

leaves 2-pinnatisect; lobules short, narrow to linear. Upper<br />

leaves 1(or 2)-pinnatisect; leaflike bracts divided or entire. Synflorescence<br />

a very narrow panicle; branches very short with<br />

densely crowded capitula. Involucre ovoid-oblong or ovoid,<br />

1.5–2.5 mm in diam.; phyllaries sparsely arachnoid pubescent.<br />

Florets 4–8; corolla limb red. Achenes ovoid or obovoid. Fl.<br />

and fr. Aug–Oct.<br />
