thought: still it had very long claws and<br />

a great many teeth, so she felt it ought<br />

to be treated with respect.<br />

Overview<br />

<strong>The</strong> Cat is one <strong>of</strong> Wonderland’s<br />

outlaws: the Caretakers (the elder,<br />

established Caretakers) have been<br />

trying to kill him, well, forever. He<br />

exists in a state <strong>of</strong> what has been<br />

described as Hisenberg Uncertainty—<br />

everywhere and nowhere at once.<br />

He can certainly manifest at will, becoming solid, a phantasm, or only<br />

partially “there” in an instant (or taking his time). When he is invisible,<br />

no force known can locate him (other than sound, if he speaks).<br />

Personality<br />

<strong>The</strong> Cat is a trickster: he likes to watch. He likes to stir things up—the<br />

more chaos the better. He likes the underdog but may play games with<br />

those he’s chosen to engage<br />

with. He can be hard to get a<br />

straight answer out <strong>of</strong> as he<br />

finds frustration and confusion<br />

amusing and he’s never one<br />

to let things settle down to a<br />

conclusion if he can “turn the<br />

heat up.”<br />

If you are powerful, and you<br />

have a plan he gets wind <strong>of</strong>,<br />

he may decide to foil it for his<br />

amusement (indeed, many <strong>of</strong><br />

the Caretaker’s meetings take<br />

some precautions to keep the<br />

Cat out, should he discover<br />

the congregation). If you are<br />

noteworthy, he may find ways<br />

to vex you, since nothing<br />

is more interesting than an<br />

Description: <strong>The</strong> Cat appears as a shaggy, leopard-sized feline with a massive grin and<br />

wicked claws that extend like switchblade knives when it wants to scratch. It is sometimes<br />

striped a little like a tiger and sometimes solid in color. Often it is only partially visible,<br />

shifting in and out <strong>of</strong> space and time as it wishes.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Uncertainty Principle: As a Short Action the Cat can vanish and re-appear anywhere.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re is no roll for this and it operates as a defensive action. It can equally become<br />

insubstantial and any attack that effects the normal spectrum <strong>of</strong> physical objects will simply<br />

pass through it. Equally, if it chooses it can become invisible (or partly invisible).<br />

Phase Claws: If the Cat chooses physical combat (very rare, <strong>of</strong>ten simply to make a point)<br />

its claws ignore all armor and, if it hits by 4+, the Base Damage is doubled to 26 PEN<br />

(before damage modifiers are applied).<br />
