Midgardhr's Wyrm is well known: though foes, they are in a sense sib, Thorr's lighting (as sowilo) being
the heavenly mirror of the earth's dragon might and the moment of greatest power being the meeting of
the heavenly flow with that of the earth (thuriaz). However, most of the shapes of the dragon's being show

beneath earth or water makes the wyrm well fitted for a place among Vanic wights, as does its fiery
wealth. Like Freyja and Freyr, it strengthens the warrior-it holds the Vanic wisdom of the mound-dead
from whom even Odhinn can learn and to whom he comes for knowledge of what should become. The
claiming of the ancestral might which is shown so strongly in the dragon's being is also as much of the
Vanir as of the Aesir.
