Biographical Sketch Andrei Căldăraru was born in Bucharest, Romania, in 1971. After attending the “Sf. Sava” high-school and <strong>on</strong>e year at the Bucharest University, he moved to Jerusalem, Israel. He graduated summa cum laude from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 1993, with a double degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. After working for a year in the computer industry, he started his work towards a Ph.D. in Mathematics at Cornell University.
