As is the childish custom in villages and
cities in this pari of the world, children
straddle the fences and often banter each
other in the rapidity in which they can walk.
This Utile girl slipping was impaled and had
to be bodily lifted from the fence. She par-
tialh- fainted, and when seen by me less
ihiin an hour afterwards, she was in a very
iier\ous state and was suffering considerable
jiain. After she was chloroformed and

it was found that, for a distance of
line half inch, the hymen and perineum was
destroyed, and the roof of the wall of tlit-

the edges the parts were easily apposed
•and sutured. The most careful anti-septic
methods were used and the limbs tied together.
In a week the parts were healed, and in
