Competent authorities agree that very
LITTLE MEDICATION is required or is
DESIRABLE in the treatment of this'disease.
It is necessary to CONTROL the TEM-
PERATURE of tile patient, and the best way
of reducing dangerously high temperature is
by repeated sponging of the body with tepid
water, the use of the wet pack, or when the
surroundings will permit, the emj)loyment of
the full bath.
The ALIMENTARY CANAL should be
kept in as nearly an aseptic condition as possible,
and this may be accomplished by the
JUDICIOl'S administration of Zinc .Sul'pho-
Carbolate (the Merrell Company supply this
remedy in the convenient form of 2, 3 and 5
grain tablets).
The GREATEST DANGER which
THREATENS the patient is that of INTES-
TINAL PERFORATION, and the remedy
which will do more toward lessening this
DANGER than any other is .SOLUTION
BISMUTH and HYDRASTIA— Merrell.
It acts as a sedative and mild astringent
to the entire intestinal tract and favorably
modi5es the entire course of the disease.
