medical man. He publishes his results in
the Sciiola Caltolica. Each cubic centimeter
of holy water in the basins in the church
of Santa Croce, Turin, taken from the surface
contained 150,000 microbes, while a
culiic centimeter taken from the bottom
contained no less than 6,000,000 microbes.
He injected this water into animals and
alwavs found that it killed them, the causes
of death being; tuberculosis, colitis, or
dipththeria. He does not think a daily
cleansing with corrosive sublimate sufTi
cieut, but recommends a new form of hol\
water receptacle so constructed that ])er

says lliat a modified Weir- Mitchell treatment
gives cfuicker, better, and more lasting
results than any otiier method. Ivvery child
should be kept in bed until the movements
have ceased entirely, and the patient lias
gained in weight. In the average case no
medicine is required. Iron is indicated if
there is anjemia. Kubrah does not use
arsenic. With one or two exceptions all
the cases so treated improved rajjidly. In
the mild cases the movements ceased in two
or three days, and in the moderate in a
week or ten days, and in the severer in from
two to three weeks. The shortest stav in
hospital was ten days, the longest 7J, and
the average M-, days. Recurrences under
this treatment were exceiitional.
Operative Indications in Fibroma Uteri.
—Faure (
Presse Med. ) states _that the evolution
of fibroma uteri makes of it a unitpie
growth, no other pathological tissue increasing
and then siwntaneously undergoing
regression at tlie moment of the menopause.
It is a tumor that for an indefinite
period causes no symptoms and then may
undergo regression without having been
recognized. There is no reason for operating
on every fibroid as soon as it is diagnosticated
without waiting to see whether it
causes symptoms, At the same time, we
should recognize that this growth is a serious
affection, and one that should be
watched from time to time to see if it is
producing any of the serious symptoms:
