Munadi says that this prediction concerns the deen and it includes the majority of people<br />

- not <strong>al</strong>l. Hence none can object to it by saying that many are not included in the<br />

gener<strong>al</strong>ity of the statement. Alqamah reports tht Sayyidina Abdullah bin Masood<br />

(Radi<strong>al</strong>lahu anhu) said: “No day will come when the following day will not be less in<br />

respect of knowledge. And when there will be no Ulema to enjoin good works and<br />

prohibit from evil, <strong>al</strong>l will come to destruction.” (Jami-us-Sagheer)<br />

According to a Hadeeth Rasulullah (S<strong>al</strong>l<strong>al</strong>lahu Alayhi Was<strong>al</strong>lam) said: “The pious ones<br />

will pass away one by one and people will be left like rotten barley or bad, (worminfested)<br />

dates, of whom Allah will take no notice.” (Mishkat, Bukhari)<br />

So we see that there will be decline in religious application and deem attitudes. There will<br />

be weakness and lessening of ze<strong>al</strong>. Therefore under these circumstances while striving<br />

for goodness and well-being one should look upon the present situation. In this present<br />

era the people who have seen the eminent elders and derived spiritu<strong>al</strong> benefit from their<br />

company and grace, now turn away from elders of the following generation because they<br />

have found them to be somewhat different. Hence they avoid contact with later<br />

successors. In this respect I have seen many people who had seen and been in the<br />

company of Hazrat Ganghohi. After the death of this eminent saintly peron<strong>al</strong>ity, they did<br />

not turn to his most eminent spiritu<strong>al</strong> successors, (Khulafaa)<br />

Moulana Kh<strong>al</strong>il Ahmed Saharanpuri, Hazrat Moulana Shaikhul-Hind, Hazrat Moulana<br />

Abdul Raheem Raipuri (May Allay fill their graves with floor). In this they deprived<br />

themselves of further spiritu<strong>al</strong> good for these saintly ones were bastions of guidance.<br />

Similarly many of the mureeds who had been attached to these person<strong>al</strong>ities, did not later,<br />

after their death, turn towards their successors, because they compared the successors to<br />

the predecessors and found them to be less eminent. The successors were thus not held in<br />

the same esteem. Even these ones too only deprived themselves of great benefit and<br />

further spiritu<strong>al</strong> advancement. These people should have re<strong>al</strong>ized tht those who had<br />

passed will never return and those who will come will be worse than what is with us now.<br />

What is to be seen is this: does this person follow and act upon the essenti<strong>al</strong>s of deen or<br />

not, because whosoever denies any of the essenti<strong>al</strong>s of deen is outside the p<strong>al</strong>e of Islam.<br />

Then, the more a person is desirous of following the Sunnah, the more well-guided he<br />

will be, for re<strong>al</strong> guidance lies in the Sunnah, and conforming to it.<br />

THE SIXTH POINT that is worth consideration is that the Ulema are men born from<br />

among us. They are not some creatures born and bred elsewhere. Hence the people<br />

among whom they are born and the envirom-nent will have its influence on them. As the<br />

iron, so the sword. As the clay, so the utensil. As the copper so will be its gilt.<br />

Rasulullah (S<strong>al</strong>l<strong>al</strong>lahu Alayhi Was<strong>al</strong>lam) said:<br />

“The ones among you who were the best in the time of i<strong>gn</strong>orance will be the best of you<br />

in Islam, when they become Alims.<br />
