6 Margaret Stirling ; died at Keir in June, 1784.<br />

7 Marion Stirling, born at Cadder, June 12, 1774; she<br />

kept house at Keir for her brothers James and<br />

Archibald for fifty years, and died there, unmarried,<br />

Mar. 1, 1842, and was buried at Lecropt.<br />

8 Jean Stirling, born at Cadder, July 2, 1775 ; died at<br />

Bromley, Kent, Sept. 7, 1855.<br />

Children by second marriage:<br />

9 William Stirling, born at Keir, Aug. 23, 1789. He<br />

entered the First King's Dragoon Guards in 1810 ;<br />

was a captain in 1815, and was engaged at the<br />

Battle of Waterloo. He retired in 1818. He<br />

married first, Mary, daughter of John Anderson,<br />

a merchant in London, and had one son<br />

William Stuart Stirling-Crawfurd, born Nov.<br />

29, 1819, of Milton. He assumed the name of<br />

Crawfurd on inheritance from his grandaunt, Mrs.<br />

Margaret Stuart Rae Crawfurd of Milton. Win.<br />

S. Stirling-Crawfurd, J. P., D.L., County Lanark,<br />

Lieut. Col. First Lanark Artillery. He married,<br />

Jan. 22, 1876, Catharine, Dowager Duchess of<br />

Montrose and daughter of John, Second Lord<br />

Decies.<br />

Capt. William Stirling married second, in 1822,<br />

Anne Charlotte Maitland, daughter of Sir Alexander<br />

Charles Maitland-Gibson of Cliftonhall,<br />

Bart., and had by her (who died Sept. 17, 1875)<br />

James Stirling Stirling-Stuart, born in 1825, and<br />

Helen Maitland Stirling. James S. Stirling-Stuart<br />

succeeded to the estate of Castlemilk in 1828 upon<br />

the death of his grandaunt, Mrs. Margaret Stuart<br />

Rae Crawfurd of Milton. He was a captain of<br />

the King's Dragoon Guards ; married at Dublin,<br />

June 1, 1852, Harriet Boswell Erskine, second<br />

daughter of Matthew Fortescue of Belvidere, Dublin.<br />

Had a son and five daughters<br />

William James Stirling-Crawfurd-Stuart, born<br />

May 9, 1854, now of Castlemilk. <strong>The</strong> estate of<br />

CASTLEMILK comprises 2137 acres, with an<br />

annual income of £3300. Address, Castlemilk,<br />

Lanarkshire.<br />
