Mr. <strong>Sterling</strong> grew to manhood in the Empire State and at the<br />

age of twenty-nine, in 1844, removed to Three Rivers, St. Joseph<br />

Co., Mich. He subsequently returned to N. Y. State where his<br />

first wife d. He returned to Michigan and located at Battle Creek,<br />

where he became connected with Mr. Don Burnham in the agricul-<br />

tural implement business, a firm which was afterward succeeded by<br />

the present Battle Creek Machinery Co. He remained identified<br />

with this concern for some years, until 1864, when he engaged in<br />

farming. His health failing he removed to Marshall, Mich., where<br />

he d. Dec. 28, 1893. Mrs. <strong>Sterling</strong> still resides at Marshall<br />

(1901).<br />

Streator, b. in Hamilton, N. Y., Oct. 16, 1816, son of Isaac<br />

Hemenway and Clarinda (Plumb) Streator.<br />

In 1839 Mr. Streator commenced his professional life as a<br />

physician. For five years he practiced medicine in Anova, O., and<br />

then moved to Ravenna where he continued in practice until 1850,<br />

when he removed to Cleveland, O., having now a wide reputation
