second daughter of William Stirling and wife of William Colqu-<br />

houn of Craigton, as before shown. This William Colquhoun was<br />

the father of Margaret Colquhoun, who married Alan Colquhoun of<br />

Kenmure and had two sons, Alan, who died without issue, and<br />

William Colquhoun of Kenmure, who married Judith Dunn<br />

Thibou, by whom he had a son, William, who succeeded to Law,<br />

and two daughters. <strong>The</strong> elder, Margaret, married Alexander<br />

Dunlop of Keppoch and had five sons and six daughters ; the<br />

second son was Alexander Murray Dunlop of Corsock, M.P. for<br />

Greenock.<br />

served heir of Mrs. Agnes Ham-<br />

eal descendant of the Calders of<br />

Inchbreck. William died in Jan-<br />

uary, 1842, and was succeeded<br />

by his son.<br />

EDENBARNET, lieutenant 14th Regiment, Madras Native In-<br />

fantry.<br />

IV WILLIAM STIRLING, fifth son of William Stirling of<br />

Law, Portnellan, and Edenbarnet. In an old family Bible printed<br />

in 1658, now in the possession of Maj.-Gen. John B. <strong>Sterling</strong> of<br />

London, the following entries are recorded:<br />
