Britten, joined. By consent, <strong>the</strong> votiing by show <strong>of</strong> hands was<br />

taken to be for or against confirmation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Minutes ; those in<br />

favour <strong>of</strong> confirmation 14, against 17 (one more being invalid),<br />

out <strong>of</strong> 47 JFellows present. The Minutes were accordingly not<br />

signed.<br />

Dr. John Don Fisher Gilchrist, Mr. William Philip James<br />

Le Brocq, and Mr. Charles Edward Pearson were elected, and <strong>the</strong><br />

Rev. Henry Thomas Spufford and Mr. John Lewis Bonhote were<br />

admitted Fellows <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Society</strong>.<br />

The President, on behalf <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>. Isaac Batley Baleoue,<br />

presented a Gold Medal recently struck in commemoration <strong>of</strong> his<br />

fa<strong>the</strong>r. Pr<strong>of</strong>. John Hutton Balfour ; a special vote <strong>of</strong> thanks was<br />

accorded by acclamation.<br />

Sir Joseph Hookek forwarded for acceptance by <strong>the</strong> <strong>Society</strong> a<br />

photograph <strong>of</strong> an etching by Mrs. Dawson Turner, from a drawing<br />

by J. S. Cotman, <strong>of</strong> her husband, who was a Fellow <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Linnean</strong><br />

<strong>Society</strong> for fifty years (from 1797 to 1858). For this gift a special<br />

vote <strong>of</strong> thanks was passed.<br />

Mr. E. P. Stebbing exhibited lantern-slides <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> metamorphoses<br />

<strong>of</strong> Clania Crameri, a Psychid moth from <strong>the</strong> Madras Presidency,<br />

showing its use <strong>of</strong> its food-plant, Casuarina eq^uisetifolia, in <strong>the</strong><br />

making <strong>of</strong> its protective case.<br />

Mr, F. Enock displayed a series <strong>of</strong> more than fifty slides <strong>of</strong><br />

Natural Colour Photography <strong>of</strong> living insects and flowers by <strong>the</strong><br />

Sanger-Shepherd three-colour process ;<br />

remarks on <strong>the</strong> results.<br />
