Twenty-eight Eellows (<strong>of</strong> whom 23 have qualified) have been<br />

elected.<br />

The Librarian's report was read as follows :<br />

"During <strong>the</strong> past year 6S volumes and 162 pamphlets have<br />

been received as Donations from Private Individuals.<br />

"Erom <strong>the</strong> various Universities, Academies, and Scientific<br />

Societies, 274 volumes and 94 detached parts have been received<br />

in exchange and o<strong>the</strong>rwise, besides 73 volumes and 42 parts<br />

obtained bv exchange and as donations from <strong>the</strong> Editors and Pro-<br />

prietors <strong>of</strong> independent Periodicals.<br />

" The Council had sanctioned <strong>the</strong> purchase <strong>of</strong> 171 volumes, and<br />

96 parts <strong>of</strong> important works.<br />

" The total additions to <strong>the</strong> <strong>Library</strong> are <strong>the</strong>refore 586 volumes<br />

and 294 separate parts,<br />

" The number <strong>of</strong> books bound duriug <strong>the</strong> year is as follows :—<br />

In half-morocco 292 volumes, in half-calf 3 volumes, in full<br />

cloth 19.5 volumes, in vellum 21 volumes, in buckram 18 volumes,<br />

in bourds or half-cloth 15 volumes. Eelabelled (half-morocco and<br />

cloth backs) 32 volumes. Total 576 volumes."<br />

The General Secretary having read <strong>the</strong> Bye-Laws governing <strong>the</strong><br />

elections,<br />

The President opened <strong>the</strong> business <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> day, and <strong>the</strong> Eellows<br />

present proceeded to vote by ballot for <strong>the</strong> Council and Officei-s.<br />

The ballot for <strong>the</strong> Council having been closed, <strong>the</strong> President<br />

appointed Mr. J. G. Baker, Dr. A. B. Eendle, and Mr. E. Morton
