Pr<strong>of</strong>. W. A. Herdman, F.R.S., President, in <strong>the</strong> Chair.<br />

The Minutes <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> General Meeting <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 17th November<br />

were read and confirmed.<br />

Mr. Eardley Wihnot Blomtield Holt and Miss Emiha Prances<br />

Noel were proposed as Pellows.<br />

Mr. Percy Appleyard, F.C.S., Mr, Pichard Hind Cambage,<br />

Mr. Thomas Bennett Goodall, and Mr. Eichard Norris Wolfenden,<br />

M.D.Cautab., were severally balloted for and elected.<br />

The Meeting having been made Special in pursuance <strong>of</strong> notice<br />

sent to all Fellows in <strong>the</strong> United Kingdom, <strong>the</strong> President opened<br />

<strong>the</strong> Ballot for five additional Members <strong>of</strong> Council, in accordance<br />

with <strong>the</strong> provisions <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Supplemental Charter. The Ballot being<br />

closed, <strong>the</strong> President nominated Mr. Herbert Druce, Mr. Henry<br />

Groves, and Mr. A. O. Walker, Scrutineers ; and <strong>the</strong> votes having<br />

been examined and reported to <strong>the</strong> President, he announced that<br />

Mr. Eichard Assheton, M.A., Eev. Canou W. W. Fowleh, M.A,,<br />

Mr. H. W. MoNCKTON, F.G.S., Pr<strong>of</strong>. F. W. Oliver, D.Sc, and<br />

Dr. A. B. Eenhle, M.A., had been elected Members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Council.<br />

Mr. John Clayton, F.L.S., pi'esented a series <strong>of</strong> photographs<br />

with lithographed text, entitled " The Sequoias, with special<br />

reference to <strong>the</strong> section <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Big-Tree ' Mark Twain,' " which<br />

tree afforded <strong>the</strong> sections in <strong>the</strong> Jesup Collection in New York,<br />

and at <strong>the</strong> British Museum (Natural History); <strong>the</strong> history and<br />

details <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se were given. A discussion followed, Mr. H. J.<br />

Elwes, Eev. T. E. E. Stebbing, and Mr. H. W. Monckton taking<br />

part.<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>. S. H. Vines, F.E.S., V.P.L.S., <strong>the</strong>n gave a discourse on<br />

" Proteid Digestion in Animals and Plants." (See Abstract ou<br />

P- 59-)<br />

The Minutes <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> General Meeting <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 1st December were<br />

read and confirmed.<br />

Mr. T. B. Goodall, Mr. C. E. Walker, and Dr. E. N. Wolfenden<br />

were admitted Fellows.<br />

Miss Lilian Suzette Gibbs, Mrs. Henderina Victoria Scott,<br />

Mr. Charles Blades Coverdale Storey, and Pr<strong>of</strong>. Eichard Henry<br />

Yapp were proposed as Fellows.
