Set the general system information. You also configure the language, time<br />

zone, and other locale-related settings here. And specify boot loader, logging,<br />

and runlevel information here.<br />

► Network Devices<br />

Set network adapter information. Kernel module information as well as IP<br />

details can be set here.<br />

► Network Services<br />

Network clients and daemons can be configured from here. <strong>The</strong>re are over 15<br />

different daemons to choose from. Refer to the Network Services section for<br />

more information.<br />

► Security and Users<br />

From here, you may create users that you want to be present after install. You<br />

may also change the security policy to make things such as password<br />

changes more stringent. And you can configure VPN and firewall settings<br />

from here.<br />

► Misc<br />

This section allows you to add complete configuration files, or to add special<br />

scripts to run before and after installation.<br />

Tip: AutoYaST also lets you import Kickstart files from Red Hat or Alice (a<br />

precursor to AutoYaST) files. You do this by selecting File → Import.<br />

After you are satisfied with the selections, save the file. This validates that the<br />

required minimum options are populated prior to saving.<br />

6.4 Performing an unattended installation<br />

<strong>The</strong> unattended installation process needs to pass the zImage.initrd the location<br />

of the unattended answer file during boot. Unfortunately, BOOTP does not have a<br />

facility to provide anything more than the location to the zImage.initrd and the<br />

tftpboot server to the client. To pass the required parameters, they need to be<br />

input into Open Firmware.<br />
