Matrix. For <strong>the</strong> fifth <strong>Essence</strong> was not yet created in <strong>the</strong> Matrix,<br />
nor separated till <strong>the</strong> fourth Day, when God created <strong>the</strong> Sun and<br />
Stars out <strong>of</strong> it, and separated <strong>the</strong> Light from <strong>the</strong> Darkness;<br />
where <strong>the</strong>n <strong>the</strong> Light got <strong>the</strong> Virtue <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Glance, or Splendor,<br />
into itself for its own, and <strong>the</strong> Root <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fire in <strong>the</strong> Center<br />
remained hidden in <strong>the</strong> Darkness.<br />
8. On <strong>the</strong> second Day, God created <strong>the</strong> Firmament <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Heaven, viz. <strong>the</strong> strong Inclosure, [Fence, or Stop] to <strong>the</strong> Darkness<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> original Matrix, that it might no more kindle itself,<br />
and generate Earth and Stones. And <strong>the</strong>refore he made <strong>the</strong> Inclosure<br />
or Firmament out <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Midst <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Waters, which<br />
stays <strong>the</strong> Might [Force, or Power] <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fire, and became <strong>the</strong><br />
visible Heaven, whence <strong>the</strong> Creatures are proceeded, from whence<br />
now <strong>the</strong> Elements, Fire, Air, and Water proceed.<br />
9. The third Day God, by <strong>the</strong> Fiat, divided <strong>the</strong> Waters upon<br />
<strong>the</strong> Earth, and created <strong>the</strong>m for several Places, that <strong>the</strong>re might<br />
be a Dwelling upon <strong>the</strong> Earth, and so <strong>the</strong> Earth became dry.<br />
Now when this was done, <strong>the</strong>n God did seek <strong>the</strong> Creature, and<br />
<strong>the</strong> Eternal Fa<strong>the</strong>r said, (that is, he wrought through <strong>the</strong> Son,<br />
who is his Heart and Glance,) [or Luster,] in <strong>the</strong> Fiat, in <strong>the</strong><br />
Earth; and <strong>the</strong>re budded <strong>the</strong> Life through Death, and Grass,<br />
Herbs, and all Manner <strong>of</strong> Trees and Plants sprung up, every one<br />
according to <strong>the</strong> eternal h Source, as it had been before. Thus<br />
every <strong>Essence</strong> became visible, and God manifested his manifold<br />
Virtue with <strong>the</strong> manifold Herbs, Plants, and Trees, so that every<br />
one that does but look upon <strong>the</strong>m, may see <strong>the</strong> eternal Power,<br />
Virtue, and Wisdom <strong>of</strong> God <strong>the</strong>rein; if he be born <strong>of</strong> God, he<br />
may know in every Spire <strong>of</strong> Grass, his Creator in whom he lives.<br />
Thus in this Time sprung up all that grew [or was] in <strong>the</strong><br />
Earth.<br />
i If Men would not be blind, <strong>the</strong>y might here see <strong>the</strong> Mystery <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> Man Christ’s remaining in Death till <strong>the</strong> third Day, and<br />
his bringing <strong>of</strong> Life out <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Earth.<br />
h Fountain.<br />
i This was found written in <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong> manuscript Copy apart by itself, so that it is not known whe<strong>the</strong>r it be<br />
<strong>the</strong> Author’s or no.<br />
10. And <strong>the</strong> Matrix <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Earth stood still till <strong>the</strong> third Day, as<br />
it were in Death, in respect <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> great Storm: But in <strong>the</strong> Fiat<br />
<strong>the</strong> Life sprung up through Death, and <strong>the</strong> eternal Virtue [or<br />
Power] and Wisdom <strong>of</strong> God (which has formed itself toge<strong>the</strong>r<br />
in <strong>the</strong> Fiat) discovered itself on <strong>the</strong> blossoming Earth, where <strong>the</strong><br />
Similitude <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> paradisical World may be clearly seen.<br />
11. For although many thousand several Herbs stand one by<br />
ano<strong>the</strong>r in one and <strong>the</strong> same Meadow, and one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m is fairer<br />
and has more Virtue than ano<strong>the</strong>r, yet one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m does not
