4.4.6 Determining shim thicknesses for
front axle shaft and helical and
intermediate gears
Use the measured values to determine the
desired shim thicknesses.
Calculation:
B V = K RV - M RV
B S = K RS - M RS
B Z = K RZ - M RZ
H V = K P + M DV
H S = K P + M DS
H Z = K P + M DZ
NV =BV - HV NS = BS - HS NZ = BZ - HZ S V = N V - S PV
S S = N S - S PS
S Z = N Z - V Z
Important !:
The K values of the measuring rings and
measuring plates are engraved on them.
Use the K values of your own measuring
rings and plates.
Adjusting values (acc. to parts list)
Front axle shaft: (play) S PV
Setting: 0 to 0.05 mm
Test value: -0.03 to 0.08 mm
Helical gear: (play) S PS
Setting: 0 to 0.05 mm = play
Test value: -0.03 to 0.08 mm
Intermediate gear: (preload) V Z
Setting: -0.03 to -0.08 mm =
Test value: 0 to -0.11 mm

- indicates preload
