I. WARM UP (5 m<strong>in</strong>utes)<br />

1. SAY SOMETHING LIKE: Last week, we discussed the k<strong>in</strong>ds of questions you might ask<br />

<strong>in</strong> an <strong>in</strong>formational <strong>in</strong>terview. Hopefully, you have a few questions you can’t wait to<br />

ask. There are two more <strong>in</strong>formational <strong>in</strong>terview elements to consider before you’re<br />

ready for your Job Shadow:<br />

• F<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g out more about the company you’ll be visit<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

• Figur<strong>in</strong>g out what a successful <strong>in</strong>formational <strong>in</strong>terview should look and sound like.<br />

We will discuss each of these today. We’ll also take a moment at the end of class to<br />

review how to confirm your Job Shadow appo<strong>in</strong>tment so that your host is ready for<br />

your arrival.<br />

Let’s beg<strong>in</strong> with item two – what a good <strong>in</strong>formational <strong>in</strong>terview should look and sound like.<br />

teacher.]<br />

Be prepared to discuss any strengths and weaknesses you notice.<br />

Interview Script.]<br />

II. Conduct<strong>in</strong>g Interviews (10 m<strong>in</strong>utes)<br />

1. [When you’ve f<strong>in</strong>ished the model <strong>in</strong>terview, create a T-chart with columns labeled<br />

“Desirable Informational Interview Behavior” and “Undesirable Informational Interview<br />

Behavior.” Ask students for their observations <strong>in</strong> each category, which might <strong>in</strong>clude the<br />

follow<strong>in</strong>g:<br />
