spend too much time search<strong>in</strong>g for one piece of <strong>in</strong>formation. If they get stuck, they<br />

should write a question mark <strong>in</strong> the box.]<br />

IV. Wrap Up (5 m<strong>in</strong>utes)<br />

1. [Come back together as a class and have students share what they learned. What<br />

<strong>in</strong>formation was difficult (or impossible) to f<strong>in</strong>d? Would you apply to this program without<br />

know<strong>in</strong>g these facts? Did you feel that either of the schools you researched would<br />

be worth your time and money? Why or why not?]<br />

2. SAY SOMETHING LIKE: So, what do you do if you can’t f<strong>in</strong>d the <strong>in</strong>formation you need?<br />

[Take answers from volunteers.] Contact the school directly! Most sites <strong>in</strong>clude email<br />

address, phone number, and/or a contact page. Typically, they want to hear from prospective<br />

students, and will even mail materials to your home.<br />

3. SAY SOMETHING LIKE: While it may take some extra legwork to research these<br />

schools and programs, maybe there’s a way we could help each other, and maybe<br />

even future classes. What are some th<strong>in</strong>gs we could do as a class to help each other<br />

f<strong>in</strong>d this <strong>in</strong>formation? [Take suggestions from volunteers. Some suggestions <strong>in</strong>clude:<br />

Start a library of <strong>in</strong>formation for one- and two-year programs. Keep a three-r<strong>in</strong>g<br />

b<strong>in</strong>der for one- and two-year programs, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g notes from research, emails, and<br />

<strong>in</strong>formational phone calls.]<br />

4. SAY SOMETHING LIKE: Great job today, everyone! Next week, we’ll turn to a different<br />

postsecondary option and beg<strong>in</strong> our research on four-year colleges.<br />
