Hazardous Waste Management Facilities - Annual Registration<br />

LEGAL AUTHORITY:<br />

A.R.S. § 49-929<br />

A.R.S. § 49-930<br />

CONDITIONS REQUIRING PERMITS, AUTHORIZATIONS OR FILINGS:<br />

Owners of new or existing hazardous waste management facilities are required to register<br />

annually with ADEQ. Registration is required for the following:<br />

- Any facility that received waste for treatment or storage for more than ten days, or for<br />

disposal during the proceeding calendar year.<br />

- Any hazardous waste transporter that either delivered or picked up hazardous waste in the<br />

State of Arizona.<br />

- Any generator of hazardous waste that generated over 100 kilograms of hazardous waste<br />

in any month during the proceeding calendar year.<br />

- Any facility that received 50 or more tons per year of hazardous waste for material<br />

resource recovery, generated by a facility not owned by the receiving facility.<br />

EXEMPTIONS:<br />

None<br />

FEES:<br />

The following fees apply and are due annually by March 1:<br />

- For treatment, storage, and disposal facilities, the fee is $1,500 plus $2 per ton of<br />

hazardous waste received.<br />

- For hazardous waste transporters, the fee is $200.<br />

- For large quantity generators, the fee is $1,500 plus $2 per ton of hazardous waste<br />

received, up to a maximum of $10,000 per site or $25,000 per entity.<br />

AVERAGE PROCESSING TIME:<br />

Usual processing time is four weeks.<br />
