BRIEf dESCRIpTIon <strong>of</strong> ThE oRganIzaTIon<br />
The laboratory consists <strong>of</strong> 14 members : 4 doctors in biological sciences, 2 doctoral students and 8<br />
experts in the field <strong>of</strong> higher education.<br />
Collections <strong>of</strong> plants are being maintained : i.e. forage plants(350 species), medical (500 species),<br />
aromatic (150 species) and food producing (130 species). The laboratory has arable land, laboratory<br />
rooms with necessary equipment for evaluating the value <strong>of</strong> plants’ resources, the selection <strong>of</strong> species and<br />
their promotion in the economy sectors.<br />

New cultures have been introduced in the national economy : i.e. Galega orientalis (fodder plants), the<br />
Speranta variety, and other 15 new varieties <strong>of</strong> medicinal and aromatic plants. New technologies have<br />
also been developed for the rapid multiplication and cultivation <strong>of</strong> valuable species.<br />
