The Laboratory was set up on the 6th of April, 1962, under the name of “The Laboratory of Mineral
Materials”. It was later named as “The Laboratory of Mineral Materials and Water Chemistry”, and
recently it got the name of “The Laboratory of Ecological Chemistry”. The laboratory was founded by
Nicolai Labanov (1897-1972), Doctor of Chemistry; afterwards modernized by Valeriu Ropot (1934-
2002), Doctor of Chemistry, laureate of the State Prize Of Moldova. Nowadays it is under the patronage
of Tudor Lupascu, Doctor Habilitate of Chemistry, Professor and Laureate of the State Prize of Moldova.
